Carpentery "Madaras"

Experience more than century old tradition of making oak barrels demonstrated by the local carpenter Mr. Jānis Grantiņš. Special oppurtunity includes making ready of the loved wooden furniture together with handyman. 


Rabbit breeding farm "Mežiņi"

Possible to view the collection of breed rabbits. The yarn from Angora rabbit wool is being spun there, and rabbit shearing is an occasional, but interesting experience. 


"Ceriņi" farmstead

Introduction to livestock of the traditional Latvian farmstead - sheeps, pigs, calves, poultry and rabbits, as well as non native chinchillas. Hostesses' story about their habits and menu. Picnic place. 


"Kaņepītes" farmstead

The biological farm, where from the home-grown grain are prepared flour, bran, oat flakes and groats.  By arrangement in advance, small groups can experience the production process and do some shopping. 


Wakepark "Rancho"

The place where you can improve your skills or try out wakeboarding for the first time. Equipment rental.


Kokmuiža Castle

 Built in the 18th century and gained its nowadays looks in the end of the 19th century. In 1937 the castle of kokmuiža barons was turned into a cshool. The granary of the manor is rebuilt into a modern sports building. 


Collection of chairs and ceramic workshop “Lejas Bregži”

Īrisa and Imants Vainovski, owners, will tell you about chair masters and their ancient craft. Here you can also see the exhibitions of hostess ceramic works, take part in workshops and stay overnight in fresh hay at the summer time.

Rubene Lutheran Church

Built in 13th century – from this period remained altar – in later centuries it has been rebuilt several times. Rubene fold was founded in 1208 and there for a long time as priest served chronicler Letu Heinrihs (Latvian Indriķis), running the first fold in Latvian history, which members were only leti (Latgallians).

 

 

 


Dikļi Lutheran Church

In the historical articles church is mentioned already in the first part of the 17th century, cureent building is built in about 1848. In the second part of the 19th century writer J. Neikens served here as the priest. There can see one of the most impressive Baroque arts in Vidzeme – pulpit (1699) and altar (1698) decorated with Mannerism style woodcarvings.

The River Gauja

The most beautiful adornment of Valmiera is the rapid and ever changing Gauja River and its natural, vacant riverbanks. If you are lucky, you might meet not only a roe family that has wandered into the city, but also the “hardworking managers” of the riverbanks – the beavers.
