Every spring, Valmiera celebrates Arts Days, and, in 2020 the chosen theme is "Movement". During the month of art, the city revives in an unusual form and provides an opportunity to attend a number of events – exhibitions, concerts and multimedia events.

Festival “Cinema Pedal”

  8th May (2020) - 9th May (2020) 

From May 8 -9 , everyone who loves cycling and enjoys outdoor cinema in unaccustomed places, with a specially designed film program, is invited to Valmiera. The festival will take place for the fourth year and will offer a broad and exciting programme of events that will be enjoyed both by participants of different ages and cinema tastes and cycling endurance levels of participants – groups of friends, families with children, and experienced riders.

Every year on the second Saturday of October, the traditional Simjūds Fair is held in Valmiera Town Hall Square and in the territory of Valmiera Castle. This is historically is the last big market before winter and where it is possible to prepare of a wide variety of produce. Craftsmen and home producers will delight with products, but the tempting scents will call to preserve autumn flavour colours for white winter days.

Winter Solstice celebration and the fair “Gardu muti”

  19th December (2020) 

During the Winter Solstice local craftsmen from far and wide will gather in Valmiermuiža to offer real countryside goods to the visitors of the fair. Since ancient times Latvians have set up richly served tables to celebrate Winter Solstice. Pig snout, grey peas, bacon rolls, beer – nothing was missing.
