Tourism campaign will invite to search for “Centennial treasures”

Valmiera Tourist Information Centre in cooperation with Kocēni, Burtnieki and Beverīna Municipalities will open the “treasure chest” and with that will invite local and foreign toruists from July 25 until October 31 to take part in the tourism campaign “Centennial treasures”.
Tourism campaign “Centennial treasures” follows the principles and rules established by the worldwide known game Geocaching. To participate in the tourism campaign, one will have to find the caches by their coordinates, which will be given on www.geocaching.com, or by following the clues and hints given in the tourism brochure, and write down in the tourism brochure keywords found in the caches. Geocaches can be identified as boxes or capsules, in which you will find a pencil, a notebook and some items that can be exchanged.
 
These hints and clues will lead participants through nature trails, cultural heritage objects and sites, inviting people to visit Valmiera city and Kocēni, Burtnieki and Beverīna Municipalities to discover also less known objects and stories about them. Participants will have an opportunity to visit Caurumkrogs, house of Marta from Zilaiskalns, Ēvele Manor Park, Trikāta Castle ruins, Gauja River Steep Banks and many other sightseeing objects.
 
When the brochure will be filled-in, until 3 November 2017 it must be delivered in person or sent by post to the Valmiera Tourist Information Centre, Rīgas iela 10, Valmiera, LV-4201.
 
The campaign will end on November 10, 2017, when lucky winners will be chosen and will receive prizes from tourism enterprises in Valmiera and Kocēni, Burtnieki and Beverīna Municipalities. Main prize – tourism class bicycle provided by the Valmiera City Council in cooperation with “Aktīvā tūrisma centrs Eži” Ltd. (Rīgas Street 43, Valmiera, www.ezi.lv).
