Take part in the tourism campaign and find “Centennial Treasures”!

Ant’s path, crooked tree, pub, stump, cavity, roots – some places marked on the map and directions to hidden treasures.

Find them, discover new tourist objects and find out what stories are in Valmiera and the surrounding counties. Valmiera Tourism Information Centre (TIC) from July 20 - October 31, 2018 together with the counties of Kocēni, Burtnieki un Beverīna for the second year, Latvian and foreign travellers are invited to participate in the tourism campaign “Centennial Treasures”.

Tourism campaign “Centennial Treasures” follows the principles and rules established by the worldwide known game Geocaching (geolocation game, also known as Cache).

To participate in the campaign, participants will be required to visit various caches in the brochure or using coordinates of the campaign at the www.geochacing.com website, find “hidden treasures” or keywords and listing them in the brochure of the campaign. The cache will be in the form of boxes or capsules, which will contain a notepad, a pencil and a variety of changing stuff. It should be noted that this year, the participants of the campaign will also be able to fulfil additional tasks that will be hidden in the form of QR codes and participate in the draw of the surprise award.

Secret threads will lead tourists into both natural trails and cultural objects, revealing more known and lesser-known places. Travellers will find out what is on the path of Ģīmes Nature Trail, what monogram decorates St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, will look at the old water towers that the Valmierians call "Ūdensgalva" (Waterhead) and "Feinshmeker", Podzēni Alley, which can be proud of even the 170-year-old tree, Vanagu (Hawks) Alley, in the shade of it,Teodors Ūders gave private lessons, rich of powerful energy Jēkabkalns (Jacob’s Hill), German Forest Firebreak, that holds the testimonies of the Second World War, will look at the steam engine with the proper name - "Dampis" and many other sights.

After the brochure of campaign is completed, we will wait till November 1, 2018, Valmiera TIC, delivering the brochure personally or by mail to the address: Valmieras Tūrisma informācijas centrs, Rīgas iela 10, Valmiera, LV-4201.

 The closing of the campaign is scheduled to take place on November 10, 2018, when the most successful participants will randomly receive promotional awards from Valmiera, Kocēni, Burtnieki and Beverīna counties’ tourism enterprises. The main prize is an excellent tourist class bike provided by Valmiera City Municipality in cooperation with SIA “Aktīvā tūrisma centrs Eži” (Ltd. Active Tourism Centre Ezi).

Look for the brochure at the Valmiera Tourist Information Centre (Riga Street 10), as well as other tourist information points in Valmiera and the surrounding counties. Participants from the age of 12 can participate in the campaign with the terms of the tour campaign you can get acquainted here.
