Outdoor Activities at "Sajutu Parks" (Park of Senses)
The trail in the Trees
With four zip lines over the river, the Trail in the Trees is the safe, continuous trail that ranges from 5-11m height, with a 1 or 5 km challenge. The Universal trail includes options for trekkers of different ages and physical strengths, with a harder trail for those seeking an adventure. The system is a Swiss design without any possibility of unhooking yourself from the cable during the adventure up in the trees.
Canoe and River Trips
"Pie Gaujas" offers short breaks and canoe trips along Latvia’s longest river, with packages for individuals, couples, and small groups for the traveler that is looking to get a more intimate experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Running and Walking Tracks
With Nordic walking routes and marked running tracks, Vidzeme Olympic Center offers runners and walkers the ability to choose from routes with various lengths and difficulty levels. The following distance is accomplished by the use of marked signs that indicate the kilometers covered, and the tracks are available for use for running, walking, cycling and skiing. Group training is also an option with hiking and thematic events.
One of the most popular sites to relax in the summer, Dalin’s Beach is a public beach that is open for swimming along the Gauja River. Organized beach volleyball and beach tennis fields provide a great opportunity for enjoying the beach and the water on during the hot days of summer
Golf at Avoti
Located in Valmiermuiža, just 3km from the center of Valmiera, the recreation park Avoti features a 9-hole golf course covering just over 1930 meters, for a par 32. Avoti became the sixth Latvian golf course to meet International Standards when the course opened in 2016 after the ceremonial first tee shot from the 1st tee was launched by multiple Olympic champion in BMX cycling, Maris Strombergs.
The course is a magnificent blend of birch trees, ornamental greenery, and shrubs that surround four reservoirs to create a serene golfing experience for golfers of all skill levels. To get in some practice time, fine-tuning that putter
can be done on the practice putting green, and to work on your swing, there is a driving range along with a year-round golf simulator.
