DIKĻI CHURCH
Built in 1722, Dikļi Church stands in a picturesque setting on the left bank of the Mazbriede river. The Dikļi Song Festival Trail passes nearby, linking the site with Latvia’s rich choral traditions.
In 1848, the church underwent an unusual reconstruction — its original roof was preserved while wooden walls were replaced with masonry. The richly carved pulpit and altar are nationally significant art monuments. Between 1857 and 1867, the church served as the workplace of Juris Neikens, founder of the Latvian Song Festival tradition.
Guided tours can be arranged in advance, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the architecture, historic artworks, and the church’s fascinating story through the centuries.
Services take place on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at 13.00.
