LIVONIAN ORDER CASTLE RUINS IN TRIKĀTA

The Trikāta Castle Mound is one of the possible locations of the ancient Latgalian Beverīna castle. On it are the castle ruins of the Livonian Order of Trikāta. The castle of the Livonian Order, built on the site of an ancient Latvian castle in 1284, served as the residence of the bailiff. The castle was completely destroyed during the Great Northern War. Today you can see about 2 meters high south-eastern wall and fragments of the tower ruins 4-5 meters high.

Nowadays various cultural events take place on the open-air stage of Trikāta Castle Mound.
