THE FLOODPLAIN TRAIL OF THE RIVER RŪJA

The approximately 250 – 500 m wide Rūja floodplain is an important nesting site for woodcock and corncrake. In terms of biodiversity, the area is part of the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve.

The circular trail winds along the bank of the Rūja River for about 2 km and is perfect for leisurely nature watchers. During the walk you will be able to see the shores rich in old rivers. The trail is very beautiful in the snowy winter, but in the spring the nightingales sing in the riverbeds and the blooming spring flowers smell sweet. The variety of river bass and colors accompanies every step.
