CHURCH OF SAINT BERTULIS IN RŪJIENA
The St. Bērtulis church in Rūjina was built between 1259 and 1263. It is one of the oldest and largest churches in Vidzeme, outside Riga. The history of the church is associated with continuous destruction and recurring “resurrection”.
The church hosts various events, exhibitions, concerts intended for a wide audience. There are commemorative plaques and a monument made by the sculptor Egon Zvirbulis “On the altar of the fatherland”, dedicated to the parishioners who died in the First World War and the liberation struggles.
