Valmiera Restaurant Week will be Spoiling Gourmets!

As the autumn’s fullness approaches its conclusion, residents of Valmiera and city guests know that it is time not only to look for a warmer jacket, to which the national flag symbol will soon be proudly attached, but also to book a table in one of Valmiera’s cosy restaurants and cafes to enjoy the exquisite combinations of autumn flavours during Valmiera Restaurant Week from November 18 to 27. Guests will be pampered with a special three-course meal and a matched drink menu by six caterers from Valmiera.

Although the bouquet of all autumn flavours can be enjoyed at the meals, each caterer will highlight one ingredient in particular – pumpkin, cranberries, chili pepper, onion, king boletes and apple. Restaurant Week visitors will have a unique opportunity to enjoy a three-course meal worth EUR 30 with a selection of matching drinks for an additional price. The “Wolmar” hotel restaurant will give prominence to one of the most impressive autumn berries – pumpkin in various flavour combinations. As a starter, the restaurant will serve pumpkin pancakes with carrot caviar, pumpkin ricotta, kohlrabi and sour cream mousse, and for the main course there will be a choice between two dishes – sturgeon from a local farm served with savoy cabbage medallions, pumpkin-carrot puree, pickled black root and white wine-butter sauce, or the second choice – cured beef from a local farm with beetroot mousse, potato croquette, onion confit, pumpkin chutney and red wine broth sauce. For dessert – condensed milk fondant with pumpkin ganache filling, carrot-apple sorbet and lingonberries. The chefs of the Akustika restaurant will prepare lightly salted Burtnieki lake zander with citrus cream, pickled kohlrabi and Latvian physalis as a starter. For the main course, guests will enjoy grilled Latvian lamb with carrot puree and pistachios. The special flavour of the restaurant will be cranberries making a great match with the dark chocolate mousse and hazelnut crisps in the dessert. The family restaurant Delizia, which has specially thought also about a place for playing for the youngest visitors of the restaurant, will offer a crayfish soup made according to the 1795 recipe as a starter this autumn. For the main course – beef in red wine cooked in a special way, pearl onions, bacon and purple potato. In the dessert, the restaurant’s special ingredient – chili pepper – will be revealed serving an apple chili cheesecake with condensed milk, walnuts, apple and sweet cream. The restaurant Rātes vārti will serve its special autumn ingredient – onion – in combinations of various flavours. As a starter, guests will enjoy a roasted ox marrow bone with oxtail onion marmalade and bread, and for the main course there will be a choice between two dishes – venison with smoked venison pate, celery roots, autumn apple cream, onion and Ķelmēni rye bread cured in onion oil, or the second choice – onion preserved in blackcurrant juice with potato cheddar cream, potato chips and hemp. The restaurant has taken care of letting our imagination run wild, naming the dessert Half Moon. The matched drinks menu (15 EUR) will include wines and cocktails. The full offer is available here.

The special autumn flavour of the Tērbata cafe – king bolete – will permeate almost the entire menu. Homemade ravioli with king bolete and cheese filling will be served as a starter, and the main course will include a choice between two dishes – a beef-mushroom burger or a vegetarian portabello burger. An autumn national holiday classic – cranberry tiramisu – will be served for dessert. The matched drinks menu (12 EUR) will offer a selection of alcoholic or non-alcoholic cocktails. The Ahh-meat cafe will take care of true hospitality. Pumpkin cream soup with goat cheese and freshly baked bread will be served as a starter, but the main course will offer a choice between two dishes – slow-cooked lamb, blanched vegetables, apple-beetroot puree or grilled salmon fillet with green pea puree and caramelized onion-caper sauce. The dessert –  creme brùle, and the matched drinks menu (15 EUR) – Turkish tea, wines and hot cranberry drink. The cafe will be closed on November 20 and 27. The full offer is available here.
